Petchem production hits 22m tons

TEHRAN – Domestic petrochemical complexes totally produced over 22.693 tons of petrochemicals in the period from March 21 to December 27, 2009.

Mahshahr Petrochemical Complex was the biggest producer with some 10.906 million tons of output, SHANA News Agency reported.
National Petrochemical Company (NPC) eyes reaching production volume of 38.9 million tons by the end of the current Iranian calendar year (March 20, 2010). Some 15.5 million tons of the produced petrochemicals are projected to be exported and nearly 12.5 million tons to be supplied to the domestic market.
By the end of the current (Iranian) year, 11 petrochemical projects are planned to come on stream which would add a total of 8.8 million tons to the country’s annual petrochemical production capacity.
The projects will be launched at an estimated cost of $5.1 billion
